Fruit Picker FAQ

How does the Fruit Picker sign up process work?
After you register yourself, your name and details are added to the Kokua Tree database as a Fruit Picker. We will email you when new harvests are posted. Once you are registered, you are eligible to volunteer to any harvest, and you don't have to register again.
Okay I completed the Volunteer Registration Form and registered myself as a Fruit Picker. What next?
Visit our "Upcoming Harvests" page and sign up for the harvests that you would like to attend. If there are no harvests listed, then we do not have any scheduled. We will email you when a new harvest is posted!
How does the harvest sign up process work?
After you sign up to volunteer at a harvest, your name is added to the harvest roster. You will receive a email containing the date, time, and address of the harvest.
I signed up for a harvest, and now I can't go. What should I do?
No problem! Please email Kaitlin at kqu25@punahou.edu to take your name off the roster.
What do I need to bring to a harvest?
Just a water bottle, sunscreen, and yourself! Please wear closed-toed shoes, and clothes suitable for rain and physical activity outside. We provide all picking equipment.
I've never picked fruit from a tree before. Is there anything I need to do beforehand?
No, as long as you've signed up and received the address, you are all set. The harvest leader will provide all necessary training at the site.

Fruit Donor FAQ

How does the Fruit Donor sign up process work?
After you register yourself, your name and details are added to the Kokua Tree database as a Fruit Donor. When your tree is ready to be harvested again, please email us at kokuatree@gmail.com.
Okay I completed the Volunteer Registration form and registered myself as a Fruit Donor. What next?
We will schedule a harvest at the date and time that you entered. We will email you with the confirmed harvest details. If all of the Harvest Leaders are unavailable on that date, we will reach out to schedule another time that works for you.
What should I expect for the harvest day?
On the scheduled time and date, volunteers and a Harvest Leader will show up to pick your tree. The Harvest Leader will train all new volunteers at the beginning of each glean. The Kokua Tree provide all supplies and gear for the harvest, so no extra effort is required on your part!
Are your volunteers covered by insurance?
Yes! All of our volunteers are covered by insurance.

Misc FAQ

What is the difference between a Fruit Picker and a Fruit Donor?
Fruit Pickers sign up to go to harvests and pick fruit, while Fruit Donors sign up their tree to be picked and donated. They aren't mutually exclusive, you can be both a Picker and a Donor!
